That dog don’t hunt
Girl asked me the other day “why
don’t you hunt”
I honestly did not have a succinct
answer to that one.
I have been hunting
I have a natural eye for shooting and
am a really good shot.
I just…I don’t see a challenge in
hunting.
I don’t need the meat, the
supermarket has enough.
I have hit everything I have ever shot
at and that is only a mild exaggeration.
I am a really good shot, I could
have made a profession out of it but it was so easy it became boring.
I am probably rusty right now as it has been a while.
Getting up really early in the morning
and sitting around waiting for some animal to show up and then try to
kill it. Not my idea of a fun time really.
I have no problem killing something if
it has invaded my personal space. Mice in the house, squirrel in the
roof, etc but going out of my way to kill something that doesn’t
need to be killed is..what? Im not sure.
I’m not knocking it though, if that
is your idea of fun then good for you! I have nothing against hunting
it’s just not for me.
Im not sure what I am trying so say
here....

They say time is relative
Like a second with your hand on a hot
burner seems like an eternity and a hour with your lover seems like a
second.
My little girl was born 17 years ago
and now she is entering into the end of her school career.
This is a lot more painful than I ever
imagined it could be.
I would gladly stand with my hand on a
hot burner until the flesh melted away just to have some of that time
back.
I mourn for my kids childhood.
I miss them so very much.
Don’t get me wrong I am happy with
the here and the now and I look forward to the people they will
become but still….
To have my little ones back... to be
able to experience the world again with them.
I would sell my very soul for that
time.

Character just cant be taught
I will paraphrase here..
So Boy was at school and as it so
happens they are watching a movie in band.
The kid behind him decides he needs to
pick on Boy.
(I just don’t fully
understand why kids have to be so cruel to each other.)
He tells boy that the Broncos suck and
that they can “suck his D”
Over and over
My boy tells him to shut up and tries
to locate the teacher to get this kid to shut up.
He is like his father in that he can
take a LOT of pushing before anything snaps.
Then the kid kicks him…
As the class ends this goes out into
the hallway
The kid kicks Boy in the leg
Boy kicks the kids dayplanner
….The kid kicks again
Boy finally had had enough and swings
the kid around drop him into a chokehold.
In doing so he smashes the boys nose in
with his forearm.
Blood everywhere.
Finally teachers are involved and when
the dust settles the kid has a 10 day suspension and Boy has a 5 day
suspension.
Now here is the character part
The very first day that both boys are
back in school the band teacher looks up and there is Boy helping
this kid with his homework assignment.
To me that is character right there.

bad blood
My dad had this shotgun.
It was a fine 16 gauge shotgun that was
his fathers.
When his father passed my father, with
full knowledge of the rest of the family, took the now neglected
shotgun out of the back of the closet and claimed it as his own. He
asked and made sure no one else wanted it or cared.
This is what he told me as this
happened well before I was even born.
What I know is that for every moment I
have been alive my father owned a 16 gauge shotgun.
Then in 2003 my father passed away and
I claimed his shotgun as my own.
Not long after I started getting
hounded by my grandmother stating that this was her shotgun and she
wanted it back.
I responded with “no”
She had bought it as a gift for her
husband and now after 40+ years wanted it back.
“No”
She wanted to be sure it stayed in the
family.
“oh HELL no!”
She was getting a lawyer to get it
back.
“go for it”
I did not deny her to be mean or
vindictive.
I did it because it was my father’s
gun.
It had always been my father’s gun
and would always be my father’s gun. I don’t care where it came
from because in the 33 years* I knew my father it
was his.
Then she mentioned keeping it in the
family. That just pissed me off. This 90+ year old woman who lives in
a retirement village and cannot see, walk or hear wants me to give
up one of my treasured artifacts, something that means a lot to me,
just so she can just give it away to my uncles’ daughter.
Then to top it all off she threatened
to sic lawyers on me. I laughed out loud at that and told her to do
what she had to do. I already knew that her inaction over the past
40+ years had negated any claim she might have had to the gun, but I
contacted a lawyer just to be sure and they informed me that I was
right and that they would be happy to send her what would basically
be a cease and desist letter. I didn’t think that would be
necessary.
Reading this I do sound kinda like a
dick here but there is a lot of bad blood between her and I.
Wow just dawned on me I
only knew my dad for 33 years. That’s not nearly enough time. For 5
I was crapping myself then for 15 more I was a teenager which means I
was stupid, selfish and a complete bastard. Then for 12 years more I
was raising my own family. Stupid time and stupid human condition.
Sadcloud on the day.
